Not professional advice
Our guidance is general and educational. It is not a substitute for professional advice. In particular:
- If a bat has bitten or scratched a person or pet, or you have had direct contact with a bat, seek advice from a medical professional or public health authority right away — bats can carry rabies.
- Excluding or managing a colony in a building should follow provincial Best Management Practices and, where needed, a qualified professional. Bats are protected under the BC Wildlife Act.
Always contact your regional coordinator or a qualified professional for advice about your specific situation.
